Geez it took a while to read this one. Going to be weird not having a new piece of the story each day. Once again Dickens sure knows how to wrap up every little thread in a story. A fun read. I’m going to have to dig up Oliver Twist next I guess.

I was looking back to the name of Doctor Mell, pleased to have discovered, in these happier circumstances, Mr. Mell, formerly poor pinched usher to my Middlesex magistrate

I had to look it up (I’m horrible at names) but apparently this is the teacher that got kicked out when Copperfield was at that crappy school.

I could not help thinking, as we approached the gate, what an uproar would have been made in the country, if any deluded man had proposed to spend one half the money it had cost, on the erection of an industrial school for the young, or a house of refuge for the deserving old.
